The Augustinian church served this purpose from 1596 to 1842, and the mint is said to have been located where the choir is today. In 1841, for the first time since the Reformation, Zurich\u2019s Catholics were granted the right to build a church in the city. They were given the site on M\u00fcnzplatz with the remains of the Augustinian church.
