Frankfurter Münzhandlung is proud of its long and rich history. The coin dealership was founded in 1874 by the eminent numismatist Adolph Emil Cahn, who was to become the progenitor of a dynasty of coin dealers and numismatists. Before the Nazi coup d’état, his Frankfurt coin shop was one of the most important auction houses on the international numismatic market. In 1935 the Cahn family entrusted their auction house to their long-time employee Elisabeth Button. She and her husband successfully ran Frankfurter Münzhandlung E. Button until the company was taken over by the Swiss Bank Corporation in 1988. 22 auctions with many important collections have been sold under the Frankfurter Münzhandlung GmbH seal of quality.

Close Ties with Switzerland

To this day, Frankfurter Münzhandlung maintains close ties with Switzerland. It is part of the SINCONA Group, which also includes SINCONA AG in Zurich, SINCONA TRADING AG and Münzen Gut-Lynt. Experts such as Jürg Richter, Arne Kirsch, Michael Hardmeier, Michael Otto and Dr Ruedi Kunzmann stand for expertise, quality and reliability. But they also open up additional options for every customer of Frankfurter Münzhandlung. Customers can choose to have their collection auctioned off in Frankfurt am Main, and thus in the European Union, or in Switzerland.
