The Madrid Museum of the Americas (Museo de América, sometimes written as Museo de Américas) is the only museum in the world dedicated to preserving, studying and disseminating the heritage of the American continent and the people who have historically inhabited it. The collections are extensive and varied and include archaeological objects from before Spanish rule and a large ethnographic selection of American cultural assets from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum aims to be a national and international leader in this field and is guided by the principles of dialogue, mutual respect and cultural cooperation. The museum also has a small but very interesting coin collection, which can be viewed on request.
