You could actually call the Windy City, as Chicago is affectionately known by its residents, the Numismatic City, as there are an impressive number of coin dealers in and around Chicago. No wonder the American Numismatic Association likes to hold its World’s Fair of Money here. They know they will find an interested local audience.
So next time you’re in Chicago, plan to spend some time exploring not only the skyscrapers, but also the numismatic attractions. I recommend the MoneyMuseum at the Federal Reserve Bank and, of course, the Art Institute, where many coins are included in the exhibition and you can still visit the beautiful former Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room.
