Many consider the Complutense University of Madrid to be perhaps the most important scientific institution in the Spanish-speaking world. Founded in 1499, today around 80,000 students study there, not only from Madrid, but from all over the world.
Numismatics can be studied at the Unidad Docente de Ciencias Historiográficas. The department not only offers courses, it also organizes many internationally attended conferences and congresses. Last but not least, it is also an active publishing house that publishes the results of the research in various forms.
