Museum of Cultural History Osnabrück

“Glocal history and encounters with the “stranger” – this is what we aim to make possible at the Museum of Cultural History at MQ4. And no, “glocal” isn’t a typo. In the Museum of Cultural History, we take the opportunity to deal with local history from a global perspective. For this purpose, we are building a brand-new exhibition, which will extend over several floors.
The existing collection will help during this process: dating back to colonial times, the exhibits also recount the cultural history of the world. And we build on this. What relationship do we have with what we perceive to be “foreign” today? How do we engage with the “stranger”? How do we deal with it at a time when migration has become such a major social issue?
At the Museum of Cultural History, we facilitate encounters and promote understanding of differences and similarities. We actively involve the people of Osnabrück in the exploration of the links between history and the present day – after all, it is their story. With this in mind, the Museum of Cultural History is making an important contribution to ensuring peaceful coexistence in both the present and the future.” (Source: Osnabrück Museum Quarter)
